Peer Consultant Internship Program
2012-2013
This is one of the most sought-after internships on campus
- great internship experience during the academic year
- earn 3 units a quarter for an 8 hr/week commitment*
- advise students about career planning, resumes, job search, interviewing, and graduate school
- learn and develop skills in marketing, communication, and leadership
*Internships can be used as Social Ecology Field Study and students will earn 4 units for a 10 hr/week commitment during the Winter or Spring Quarter
WHAT IS THE CAREER CENTER PEER CONSULTANT INTERNSHIP?
- It's an 8 hour per/week - academic year long internship beginning in September and ending in June.
- Interns can receive 4 units of credit each quarter, and the internship can also be used as Social Ecology Field Study Credit.
- Interns receive extensive training in the Fall Quarter, and then implement what they learn in the Winter and Spring Quarters.
- Interns advise students about career planning, resumes, job search, interviewing, and graduate school.
- Interns videotape a student's practice interview and then provide feedback.
- Interns provide Career Center orientations and workshops to campus clubs and housing units.
- Interns promote and market Career Center services through various career fairs and events, postering fliers, classroom announcements, outreach tables, etc

HOW DO YOU APPLY FOR THE PEER PROGRAM?
- Applications are available online and in the Career Center in the Winter Quarter.
- Applications are due in March and submitted to the Career Center.
- Group interviews take place in Spring Quarter.
- A group of interns are carefully selected in Spring Quarter.
- Orientation and training of new Peers begin in September.
